1. Acrylic Polymers

2. Alkyd Resins

Alkyd resins are polymers widely used in making coatings and paints. They are created by mixing alcohols with acids and using fatty acids or oils to modify the mix. Their structure includes a main chain from polyols and side chains from fatty acids. In the 1960s, a new solvent-based method for making alkyd resins became popular. It replaced older techniques. By the 1980s, they were being produced on a large scale, with the fatty acid method becoming the most common.

3. Epoxy

Epoxy resin is a strong and versatile material used in industries like construction, marine, automotive, and aerospace. It is often mixed with materials like carbon fiber or Kevlar to create durable and lightweight structures. Known for its excellent bonding, strength, heat, and chemical resistance, epoxy resin is used in coatings, adhesives, casting, and making composite materials.

4. Latex (PVA) Liquid or solvents

Latex, or polyvinyl acetate (PVA), is a water-based resin commonly used in paints. Latex paints are popular because they are easy to apply, dry quickly, and are eco-friendly. They are also durable, making them a great choice for painting walls and ceilings.

5. Phenolic resins

Phenolic resins are a strong type of plastic created in 1907 by Dr. Leo Baekeland. These resins are used in many products like electrical parts, brake pads, and even snooker balls. They are made by mixing phenol and formaldehyde, then using heat and pressure to make them hard. Phenolic resins are known for being strong, heat-resistant, and useful in many industries.

Acrylic Polymers:

Alkyd Resins:

These resins contain solvents that release harmful fumes, which can cause headaches, dizziness, or nausea. Prolonged exposure can harm the liver and kidneys.

Epoxy Resins:
